Enraged man shoots partner’s son for mouthing off to him in horrid video — leading to 2-hour standoff with cops

Terrifying footage circulating online shows a crazed man shooting and injuring his partner’s child at point-blank range amid a heated argument — ending with the shooter killing himself after a lengthy standoff with police.

Jeffrey Scott West, 68, of Friendsville, Tennessee, died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound after he fired a gun at Kyle W. Spitze, 24, hitting him once in the ear, following an argument between the two on Aug. 25, 2023, according to Blount County Sheriff’s Office.

In shocking point-of-view footage from Spitze’s end, West can be heard yelling at the man before he appears at his bedroom door brandishing a gun.

“I’m getting ready to blow his brains out! Right f–kin’ now,” West was heard yelling as he emerged from behind the door with a cigarette hanging out of his mouth and a gun pointed directly at Spitze as he lay on his bed.

Spitze’s mother is seen rushing West with her pants unzipped, pleading with him to “Stop,” eventually leading her away from the bedroom door.

“Release my brain? Shoot me, and I guarantee you will go to prison for life,” Spitze replied.

“You want me to?” shouted West, back in the camera’s view and pointing his gun at the victim, still lying on his bed.

“I’m getting ready to blow his brains out, and yours!” West shouted from behind the door, prompting Spitze to stand and open it.

“You’re going to blow my mother’s brains out?” the victim screamed, now standing in the hallway of the house, and told West to “point that gun” at him “again.”

As the camera pans to West, the man again points the gun at Spitze.

A shot was fired directly at the camera as the victim’s mother gasped in shock.

After a few moments of eerie silence, Spitze’s mother asked in disbelief if West had just “king hit him?”

Blood began to drip down Spitze’s leg and the hardwood floor as he seemed to be grazed in the ear by a bullet.

“Oh my god! You’re going to jail,” Melanie yelled as West walked away.

Spitze quickly rushes out the back door of the house in a panic for help as the clip ends.

The Blount County Sheriff’s Office later reported shortly after a 911 call would be made reporting the shooting.

Officers arrived on the scene at approximately 8:15 pm to find Spitze and his mother outside the home, as West had begun barricading himself inside the residence.

Police said they used the public address system in an attempt to talk to Barat as they surrounded the house in hopes he would surrender.

After nearly two and a half hours of unsuccessful attempts to communicate with West, deputies deployed a Sheriff’s K-9 to the home shortly before 11 p.m.

West would be found dead of a self-inflicted gunshot wound, according to law enforcement.

Spitze was rushed to the University of Tennessee Medical Center for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries shortly after police arrived on the scene.

It is not known what the relationship between West and Spitze was.

No law enforcement officers were injured during the August 2023 standoff, police said.

Friendsville is located about 20 miles southwest of Downtown Knoxville.
