The glamorous housewife who allegedly put a $2 million hit on her estranged husband had a horrific upbringing with an alcoholic and sexually abusive father according to a stunning confession by her own mother.
While many struggle to understand why Tatyana Remley wanted to kill her husband of 12 years, Mark Remley, those closest to her point to the 42-year-old’s traumatic childhood.
Her first husband, Ken Woolcott – whom she married in 2005 – told The Post Tatyana was born in Arizona but she grew up in remote Bend, Oregon, where she only attended school until the fourth grade.
When her parents, Vera and Brian, decided to move to a small town in northern San Diego County called Valley Center, they didn’t enroll their daughter in school, according to court documents obtained by The Post.
“My husband … wanted to do home school, whatever, as soon as we came to California,” Vera said in a 2009 deposition. [Brian].

“If I could go back, I would cancel everything, and make sure he was in school … I’m very sorry, because I believe in school.”
Vera testified on behalf of her daughter, who at the time was embroiled in a custody battle with Woolcott over their young son.
Vera made several shocking revelations during her testimony, including that her eldest son, a son named Vladimir, had allegedly sexually molested Tatyana when he was a child. Tatyana was 13 or 15 years old when she told her mother about the sexual abuse.
“I was shocked and I really didn’t want to have much to do with my son after that,” Vera said. “Before that I was suspicious because, I didn’t know. He did not do well.
“He was so damaged by drugs. … He talks funny and he hates my daughter. When he was born, he hated it so much, always trying to find some way to make him cry or hurt or something. Hate him, because he feels like he took her … he took me away from him.”

Attempts by The Post to reach Vera and Vladimir for comment were unsuccessful.
In his own view, Woolcott – a successful lawyer and businessman, who at the time was part owner of the NBA team Seattle SuperSonics – said Tatyana lacked essential parenting skills because of her upbringing, the alleged abuse she suffered as a child and her parents’ religious beliefs. .
“Tatyana was isolated/captive in the rural area of Valley Center, without school, social activities and interaction with her community,” Woolcott said. “Moreover, I now understand that [one] their religious beliefs are a rejection of traditional medicine and medical care professionals.
“He was also denied access to childhood friends for fear that the parents of any such friends would lead to the discovery of the confinement. Basically, Tatyana was held captive for about 10 years (9 – 20 years) with little, if any, contact with the outside world, education, social interaction or structure.”

Woolcott was 43 when he married 23-year-old Tatyana. She soon gave birth to their son, but the marriage only lasted 11 months and the couple divorced in April 2006.
Woolcott told The Post his ex-wife said her father was an alcoholic. Woolcott also said in the affidavit that Vera was “extremely dysfunctional” and that he did not trust her with her young son.
“It’s not clear to me how they survived the last decade without significant income or employment,” Woolcott said of her former in-laws. “This is a tragic set of circumstances.”
Tatyana’s grandmother, Sasha, claimed she and her family stole money from him for years, according to court documents, and called Woolcott several times saying her own family controlled her funds and wouldn’t let her access them for things like medical expenses like getting her teeth fixed.

Doug Cross, Sasha’s close friend, also gave a deposition to the court supporting the grandmother’s claim against her family.
“Sasha repeatedly told me Tayana took the money, spent it on a trip to Italy for herself, refused Sasha’s requests to return the money and never paid back or offered to pay it back.”
After a nearly decade-long custody battle, a judge found Woolcott more fit to provide for and care for their son in Seattle. In the meantime, Tatyana gave birth to a daughter and was unsuccessfully engaged to at least three different men, according to court documents.
Woolcott said Tatyana got her GED with his help so she could enter the workforce, but his ex-wife refused to work.
