Erick Dampier began playing basketball professionally in 1996 and retired in 2012. He began his professional basketball career after being selected by the Indiana Pacers in the 1996 NBA draft. On August 12, 1997, he was traded to the Golden State Warriors after appearing in 72 games with Pacers.
He was a member of the Warriors until 2004, averaging 12.3 points, 12 rebounds, and 1.85 blocks per game. On August 24, 2004, he was traded to the Dallas Mavericks, where he averaged 9.2 points, 8.5 rebounds, and 1.85 blocks per game in his first season. He was traded to the Charlotte Bobcats on July 13, 2010, but was quickly fired on September 14, 2010.
Dampier signed with the Miami Heat on November 23, 2010, after his club lost the 2011 NBA Finals to the Dallas Mavericks.
