Escaped Philadelphia teen murder suspect Shane Pryor captured by US Marshals after 5 day manhunt

A 17-year-old homicide suspect who escaped from a Philadelphia hospital on Wednesday has been arrested, the US Marshals Service in Philadelphia confirmed Sunday.

According to US Marshals, Shane Pryor was arrested late Sunday afternoon after investigators saw him on surveillance video getting off a bus in an area of ​​Philadelphia he was known to frequent.

Authorities say Pryor was not handcuffed and was with two prison staff members when he made it out of a vehicle in the parking lot of the Emergency Room at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia and fled around noon on Wednesday, January 24.

After reviewing surveillance footage, officers say he fled the hospital’s driveway and went from building to building, walking directly to public entrances and even talking to people who asked for their phones.

Pryor asked the front desk receptionist there to use the phone, was told no, and he then left the building, according to Fox29 Philadelphia.

On Friday, Philadelphia Police arrested an 18-year-old who allegedly helped Pryor escape from custody.

Michael Diggs, who is accused of taking Pryor and helping him escape from police custody, has been charged with several felonies, including Hindering Apprehension, Escape and Criminal Conspiracy.

Pryor has been behind bars since he was charged with the 2020 murder of 54-year-old Tanya Harris at the age of 14.

He is still awaiting trial in the case.
