Evan Lysacek won the Junior National Championships in 1996. He also advanced to the Intermediate and earned a pewter medal at the Youth Olympics in 1997. In the 1999-2000 season, he made his international junior debut. He participated in the ISU Junior Grand Prix circuit from 1999 to 2000. He also won the Junior championship at the 2000 US Championships. At the 2001 US Championships, he made his senior national debut. He finished 10th as third alternate for the 2003 Four Continents Championships.
