Evangeline Lilly Admits She Had No Clue Who Harry Styles Was After His ‘Eternals’ Cameo

Canadian actress Evangeline Lilly claims she didn’t know who Harry Styles was when she saw him on Marvel’s “Eternals.”

Although the “Watermelon Sugar” singer is very famous, Lilly insists that she has no idea what he looks like and thinks he’s a random actor who’s hit it big.

The “Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania” actress may not know Styles, but she’s friends with Hugh Jackman yet flatly turned down his request to appear in the “X-Men” movie.

Lilly recently opened up about her ignorance of who Harry Styles is after watching him make a cameo appearance in “Eternals.”

follow Insiderthe “Real Steel” actor, in an interview with IGV Presents, explained that when he saw Styles in the movie, he thought he was just a random actor trying to get his big moment even though the singer was already pretty famous at the time.

Styles stars as Starfox in the film, which also features celebrities such as Angelina Jolie, Barry Keoghan and Lauren Ridloff.

Lilly, 43, went on to say that when she saw Style’s performance in the film, she asked who “the kids” were, noting that they were going to be very successful.

“I’d have to say, at the end of ‘Eternals,’ when the guy gets on the ship at the end,” he explained before being interrupted by his costar Kathryn Newton and the interviewer, who pointed out that “the guy” was Harry Gaya.

“For me, it was ‘that guy,’ and I was like, ‘Who is that kid because he’s going to be really successful. He’s got serious mojo,’” Lilly recounts. “I swear to god. I was like, ‘He’s going to be a huge star.’ That’s what I thought myself.”

One thing that Lilly and Styles share in common is that their names are written on the list of the two lowest rated Marvel movies to date.

According to Insider“Ant-Man and the wasp: Quantumania,” starring Lilly as Hope Vandyne or the Wasp, had the worst reviews since “Eternals,” which featured Styles.

The film has a paltry 48% rating on Rotten Tomatoes as of last Friday, despite it being the highly anticipated film of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

“Eternals,” featuring Styles, didn’t fare much better either, earning a 47% critics’ score on Rotten Tomatoes.

Insider stated that the film was “fun” but “clumsy”, adding that the script “struggles to keep things flowing in a way that doesn’t impact the audience.”

Evangeline Lilly Rejects Hugh Jackman’s Request

Though The Squickerwonkers the author may not be familiar with Harry Styles, he was well aware of who Hugh Jackman was when he offered him the opportunity to work on “X-Men,” which Lilly rejected in his face.

While appearing on Happy Sad Confused podcast, Lilly revealed that Jackman personally pitched her the opening while they were both working on “Real Steel” in 2011.

“He was like, ‘Hey, so, the X-Men guys are asking me if I’m going to approach you because they know you’re not going to talk to anybody,'” he explained. “They know I work with you and are interested to know if it would interest you to do the X-Men thing.”

Lilly later stated that she flatly rejected the offer to his face, explaining that she didn’t like superhero movies at the time, which made her feel like she was rude to the “Logan” star.

He Almost Rejected ‘Ant-Man’

Elsewhere in the interview, Lilly explained that her disdain for superhero movies led her to initially turn down the opportunity to work on “Ant-Man,” but for the intervention of her manager.

He claims his agent asked him to watch a Marvel movie, which he was fascinated by. “When I did it, I was like, ‘Oh, they’re doing something really different and really cool,'” he said.

Lilly also revealed that she didn’t have a good first meeting with Joss Whedon after being asked to star in Wonder Woman.

He explained that Whedon may also be offended by him for not accepting the offer, but that he’s okay with “burning bridges” and not being called to work.

“I always have to do what feels right for me,” he said. “And honestly, I don’t like superhero movies, and that’s the main reason why, in both cases, I feel like I don’t know what I’m getting out of this.”
