Israel says it has found evidence that Iran is training Hamas on how to produce and use precision-guided missiles – suggesting the terror group has significantly increased its weapons capabilities.
“Under Iran’s guidance, Hamas operatives learned how to operate and build precision missile production components and strategic weapons,” the Israel Defense Forces said Sunday.
“This is shown by the discovery by IDF soldiers of a weapons production site located inside a 100-meter long Hamas tunnel found in Daraj Tuffah, north of Gaza.”
Pictures from the weapons production site show what the IDF says are rocket engines and cruise missile warheads built by Hamas.
An accompanying video posted to X shows IDF soldiers sorting through their finds inside the house they recently rescued, which is filled with weapons components, Hamas uniforms and even United Nations Relief and Works Agency identification cards.
It remains unclear what led the IDF to conclude that the technology came from Iran, but Israel previously suspected the country of trying to supply proxy groups including Lebanon’s Hezbollah with guided missiles.

Before the newly discovered evidence, Hamas was believed to have been equipped to use only unguided missiles, according to the Times of Israel.
The findings are far from the first evidence that Iran has aided Hamas in its fight against Israel, since before the deadly October 7 attack that left 1,200 dead in the Jewish state.
In November, documents were discovered by the Israeli military that showed Hamas military leadership had asked Iran to provide financial support to send individuals to study engineering, physics and technology development at Iranian universities, according to CNN.
“This example is another piece in the elaborate puzzle of the deep infrastructure to build, support, finance and train terrorist proxies by the Iranian regime around the world and particularly in the Gaza strip,” an Israeli official told CNN at the time.

It has been well documented that Iran provides support to extremist groups throughout the Middle East, with proxy organizations such as Hamas, Hezbollah in Lebanon and the Houthis in Yemen known as the “Axis of Resistance.”
These groups are dedicated to the destruction of Israel and the elimination of western influence in the region.
