Jonathan Majors’ new interview with GMA could be the key to saving his career before his sentencing, or it could be the nail in his coffin. The former Marvel actor repeated his side of the story, again denying ever assaulting ex-girlfriend Grace Jabbari. He has already been convicted and could be jailed for up to a year.
Various legal and crisis PR professionals have now assessed the potential impact of interviews on sentencing. They have stated that it is an “unusual move” and could have a positive or negative impact on his ability to rebuild his career.
Jonathan Majors Denies Allegations Against Him…Again

Major’s interview with ABC News’ “Good Morning America” was the first time he made a public statement since his conviction in December 2023. In the interview, the actor said he was trying to be “brave and responsible” for his own story. He did not make this move during the trial, as he chose not to take the stand and testify.
During his conversation with GMA, Majors once again denied the claims of his ex-girlfriend, Grace Jabbari. He emphasized that he had never hit a woman before or been a part of domestic abuse in a previous relationship. Regarding Jabbari’s physical injuries presented as evidence in the trial, Majors claimed ignorance, adding that he had “no question” that it was not his fault.
The “Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania” actor claimed that his only responsibility in the incident was to be in the car and the relationship.
Majors said, “I shouldn’t have been in the car. I shouldn’t have gotten out of the relationship. I shouldn’t be in that relationship. If I hadn’t been in the car, none of this would have happened.”
Experts Assess Interview Strategies

Several experts have now weighed in on Majors’ decision to grant a pre-sentence interview on February 6 and how it could help or backfire massively. Cary London, a civil and criminal defense attorney at Shulman & Hill, shares his thoughts on the matter.
follow Hollywood Reporter, London said the interview was a “very unusual” step for defendants awaiting sentencing, as they typically avoid steps that could negatively influence the judge. He noted that there was significant opinion that Majors would not serve any actual prison time, but that the interview might change that.
He said, “Judges have a variety of tools that can be used in sentencing, including anger management, community service, other programming and prison time. If the defendant says anything to anger the judge, or insults the integrity of the judicial system, I can see the judge giving him a taste of jail.”
The interview could affect his sentence

Kate Mangels, partner at firm Kinsella Holley, also shared her thoughts on Majors’ interview and sentencing. He noted that the judge will consider the facts of the crime but may also take into account the actor’s lack of remorse when determining the sentence.
Mangels also said prosecutors could tell the judge about the interview, and Jabbari himself could use it in a victim impact statement. However, he also said, “From a purely legal point of view, it would be wiser to wait to make a public statement until after the sentencing. But Majors likely outweighed other factors such as public relations and his future career opportunities.
As for the interview’s impact on the future of Majors’ career, one anonymous crisis PR expert said it was a “high-risk, low-reward strategy.” They explained that it may not permanently damage his comeback potential, but that comeback isn’t happening anytime soon.
The PR expert added, “You can’t rebuild your house while the hurricane is still raging overhead.”
Jonathan Majors Found Guilty of Assault & Harassment
MEGA
In December, a jury found the “Creed III” actor guilty of reckless assault in the third degree and harassment in the second degree, all against his ex-girlfriend Jabbari.
Jabbari alleged that the assault and harassment took place during the March 25 incident in a car. She testified that it started after she saw phone texts indicating that Majors was cheating on her, and tried to take her phone. This led to the actor allegedly injuring her by forcefully prying her finger off the phone, hitting her on the head, and throwing her back into the car.
After months of controversy surrounding the charges and trial, Majors was finally found guilty and now faces up to a year in prison. His acting career was badly affected, as Majors was fired by Disney and Marvel Studios shortly after the decision was announced.
