So, if you are not able to make the best use of the Facebook app or the app is not working on your Android device, then keep this guide handy as I am sure you will find something that will fix the problem for you.
When using Facebook on Android through the app or the browser, it is normal to face various issues. Here is a list of all the possible problems you might face while using Facebook on your Android device:
- Facebook app keeps crashing
- Facebook won’t open or respond at all
- Facebook app won’t load
- News Feed not updating in Facebook app
- You can’t upload photos from the Facebook app
- The Facebook app does not send you any notifications.
- Facebook app keeps stopping
These were some issues that you may face and to fix them, you can refer to the list of troubleshooting tips given below.
Note- These issues can also arise on an iPhone device; If you have problems using Facebook on iPhone, you can read this guide: “Facebook not working on iPhone”
Facebook may encounter some technical issues from time to time, or the Android device you are using may be experiencing some issues. No matter what the case may be, the following troubleshooting tips can definitely help you deal with all possible issues due to which you are unable to use Facebook on your Android device; apply these solutions one by one and see what works for you:
If Facebook is not working, your first step should be to check if the Facebook server is down or not. This way, you can analyze whether the problem is on Facebook’s side or yours. You can go to this link: https://downdetector.in/status/facebook/ and check if it shows any interruption with Facebook. You will also be able to see Facebook outages reported in the last 24 hours. If everything is fine with Facebook and it shows no issues, then you can try the next solution.
The next thing to check is whether the Facebook app is up to date or not. Not loading a Facebook app can lead to many issues and errors that can make it difficult for you to use Facebook normally. If the app frequently crashes or stops abruptly, please check if you are using the latest version. Go to the Google Play Store and install the latest version of the Facebook app, if available. Once the updated app is installed, see if you can sign in to the Facebook app.
If you are already using the latest version of the Facebook app, you can also reinstall it after uninstalling it. This can also fix some minor issues with Facebook like app crashing frequently etc.
Firstly, please uninstall or delete the app from your Android device, and then go to Google Play Store to reinstall the Facebook app; hopefully the problems you were facing will be gone by now.
Clearing app cache and data is also a proven solution to fix Facebook issues. If a lot of caches have built up on your Facebook app, this can cause it to lag, and as a result, the app may not respond or load.
To clear the cache and data of the Facebook app, go to
Settings > Applications > Facebook > Storage > and then press ‘Clear cache’ and ‘Clear data’.
If you are not getting any notification from the Facebook app, you can check whether you have enabled this option or not.
For that, go to:
- Settings > Applications > Facebook > Notifications and toggle the switch on and make sure it is on for every Facebook activity.
If the Facebook app is still not working on your Android device, you can reset the app to its default settings and hopefully this will fix the problem; Here are the steps to reset the Facebook app:
- Open the ‘Settings’ app on your Android mobile device
- Go to the ‘Applications’ section and navigate to the Facebook application
- Open it and hit the ‘Force Stop’ option.
- Doing this will restart the Facebook app and then it will check if the app is working or not.
Lastly, you can try restarting your device if nothing else works for you. Restarting your Android device can also prevent frequent app crashes and get it working again. So, you just have to long press the Power button and then press the ‘Restart’ or ‘Restart’ button according to the instructions you see on your device. After doing this, the reason for Facebook mobile app not working will probably be fixed.
Unfortunately, if nothing works for you, you can try using your Facebook account in a browser until the problem is fixed on your Android device.
