The “Family Feud” contestant who was convicted of murdering his ex-wife after she trashed his marriage on the hit game show is still defending a lame joke he made on the program about regretting saying “I do.”
Timothy Bliefnick, 40, addressed the famous quip in his first interview since he was sentenced to life in prison in August for the gruesome slaying of his wife, Rebecca “Beck” Postle Bliefnick, who he shot 14 times.
“It was not said with malice or malice. It’s supposed to be funny,” he told Erin Moriarty of “48 Hours” in the upcoming episode, which will air Saturday.
Bliefnick was still married to Rebecca Bliefnick when he appeared on a 2019 episode and was asked to name “the biggest mistake you made in your marriage.” To host Steve Harvey’s surprise, the contestant replied: “I do.”
“Steve Harvey looked at me, like: ‘Oh, you’re going to be in trouble,’ and I said so,” Bliefnick said in the clip.
“And I said: ‘Hey, it’s not me, I love my wife.’ And I mean, I looked right at the camera and said, ‘I love my wife,’ and looked at the camera and said, ‘Honey, I love you.’”
The couple separated two years later, and four years after that, the father of three broke into his estranged wife’s home and shot her as their children slept in their bed upstairs.
But Bliefnick argued that the comments on the episode were not evidence of planning.

“It’s supposed to be funny. It shouldn’t be anything other than that,” he said.
At Bliefnick’s sentencing hearing in August, Judge Robert Adrian condemned the defendant, saying Bliefnick had “researched this murder” and “planned” it.

“You practiced this murder,” the judge said. “You broke into his house, and you shot him one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14 times.
“I don’t know how long it took you to do that, but some of the shots were fired while he was lying on the ground,” the judge continued. “And you do all that while your kids are upstairs in your house, lying comfortably in their beds.”
Bliefnick was convicted of first-degree murder in May.

The couple married in 2009 and divorced in 2021, with his ex-wife telling her sister she was afraid of Bliefnick shortly before he was found dead.
“I put this in writing that I fear he will harm me, pursue me, or will try [do] something to me that takes me away from children or children from me,” he texted his sister. “He has lied many times to paint himself as the victim and me as the perpetrator when it is really the other way around.”
Episodes of Bliefnick’s “48 Hours” will air on CBS and Paramount+ on Saturdays at 10 p.m
