Before his official sentencing, it was believed that Shah could receive up to three decades, and federal prosecutors allegedly hoped that Shah would receive at least a decade in prison.

The judge told the courtroom he was prosecuting “the person who hurt everyone [of] this victim,” and not the Shah character that Bravo viewers see on television week after week.

Hakim will refer to Shah’s role in the show as “merely a character. It’s acting,” she said, referring to “The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City” in the same way.

Shah agreed to pay up to $9.5 million in damages as part of his plea. He would also say “With the right medication, I can now see what’s going on.” (per The Blast)

“Jen has never been arrested or detained for any crime,” wrote Mr. Shah, “My wife’s current legal troubles are due to a confluence of events that came together in various places, which made her uncontrollable,” he claimed. , according to our report on his letter.

He attributed his absence to the failure to see the extent of his wife’s alleged suffering.

“Because of my absence,” Mr. Shah continued in the letter, “I could not see how bad my wife was suffering. As I think about it now, I see him spending more and more time in our bedroom alone. He often falls asleep in our child’s bed waiting for me to come home. He always told me that he felt very alone.”
