Steven Tyler is speaking out about his vocal injury that is getting serious and may be affecting his ability to perform.
Iconic rock band Aerosmith rescheduled its concert earlier this month after lead singer Steven Tyler damaged his vocal cords during a performance. While many are hoping for a speedy recovery for the singer, the band recently revealed the 75-year-old’s condition is worse than they imagined.
Fans Beg Steven Tyler To Retire As Aerosmith Announces Tour Postponement
News of Tyler’s deteriorating health came via a bold poster on the band’s official Instagram page. The update featured a joint statement from members of Aerosmith explaining why the band’s “Peace Out Tour” had to be postponed.

According to the message, the lead singer’s vocal cords have been severely damaged, and she is no longer able to give her show-stopping screams until further notice. “To our fans: Unfortunately, Steven’s vocal injury is more serious than first thought,” the announcement began.
“His doctor has confirmed that in addition to the damage to his vocal cords, he has broken his larynx, which requires constant care,” said the group’s friend with assurances of the 75-year-old’s well-being.
“He is receiving the best medical care available to ensure a speedy recovery, but given the nature of the fracture, he has been told patience is essential,” the “Toys in the Attic” hit maker explained. As a result of Tyler’s recovery, the “Peace Out” tour has been rescheduled for 2024.
Aerosmith promised the new dates would be announced once they had more information to work on. In the meantime, fans can choose to honor tickets purchased on the rescheduled date or request a refund from their vendor. However, they can only get their money back after the new date is revealed.
As for how Tyler feels amid his broken larynx, the poster includes a statement from the 4-time Grammy winner. The singer insisted that he was saddened by the situation and promised to get back together with his bandmates. The rock star’s words read:
“I’m sad not to be out there with Aerosmith, my brothers, and the amazing Black Crowes, rocking with the best fans in the world. I promise we will be back as soon as possible! – Dear, Steven.”

Fans Want Steven Tyler To Retire
While the “Dream On” artist is set to wrap up his farewell tour with his longtime collaborator, fans are more concerned about his health. Many begged the performer to see his broken vocal chords as a sign and immediately retire.
“He’s 75, time to stop before it kills him on stage,” wrote one worried Aerosmith fan. His fellow devotees echoed similar sentiments, noting the end of Tyler’s legacy. “Alright…Another vocal god is coming to an end; we better get used to it,” declared the individual.
A third claimed they had predicted a heartbreaking outcome, stating it “sounds too unrealistic that the tour will restart so quickly.” Fans believe the beloved band should have retired without doing a farewell tour.
“I still say to this day that Rush did the best parting. It wasn’t announced as the last, and the show was a great retrospective of their entire career,” said the Instagram user. Many agree that Aerosmith may not return in 2024 with a fourth writing: “It was a good run.”
While most respectfully addressed Tyler’s dilemma, some trolls unleashed their fiery tongues in the comments. One implied that the situation was expected, stating: “When it’s time….it’s time. Age, drugs, voice….”
“Shut up… does anyone want to hear Dream On, Sweet Emotion, and I Don’t Wanna Miss A Thing for the surprise time,” quipped another critic. “No offense to you guys, just retire,” a third chimed in while a fourth cried: “Just retire! They have a great career!”

“‘Didn’t see this coming,’ – nobody ever,” one mocked the rock band with fellow social media users who disagreed with Aerosmith’s choice to remain musicians. “They should have retired years ago…,” said the individual.
Due to Tyler’s poor health, fan appeals for the band’s retirement are understandable. Last year, the New Yorker’s condition influenced the cancellation of the band’s Las Vegas residency show. At the time, Aerosmith released a statement saying the lead singer was “unwell and unable to perform.”
This is not the first time the 75-year-old’s condition has affected his colleagues, as their summer 2022 plans could not survive due to the performer’s recovery. Tyler voluntarily checked into a treatment facility after a drug relapse.
