The Northern California native announced she will be leaving the dance competition series as a professional dancer after the 31st season finale. Burke’s announcement came in an Instagram post that included a photo of her in a gorgeous red ball gown. She appears to be dancing, with one hand raised above her head and the other turned to show her elbow. The striking image was accompanied by a lengthy caption that began:

“I’m sitting here full of conflicting emotions about the words I’m about to write… Tomorrow night will officially be my last dance as a pro dancer on @dancingwiththestars. This is one of the most difficult decisions of my life & I am also convinced that it is the right decision.”

Admitting that the show has been his second family since he was 21, the 38-year-old wrote, “The cast, crew & fans have seen me through my highs & some of my lows, & I honestly don’t know who I am today without them .” Burke expressed her confidence that now is the right time to begin the “next phase” of her career, although dance will “always be a part” of it.

The Blast shares that Burke is ready to take on a new challenge after she and her dance partner, Sam Champion, were fired from ‘DWTS’ in October. He opened up about his possible exit from the competition on an episode of his “Burke in the Game” podcast.

After recalling the public’s curiosity about whether this would be her last season on the show, the “Dance Moms” star said, “The answer to that question is probably yes; this is my last season, as a dancer, that is. Being a part of a show for 26 seasons, it was tough for me [to leave].”

The “Hell’s Kitchen” VIP guest restaurant revealed that his constant return to the ballroom may have something to do with the difficulty of saying “goodbye to the show and the family” he has known for so long. She explained that even though she will stop dancing on the show, she is open to landing a gig as a host or judge.
