While the update was more than heartwarming, many fans were shocked when they realized that the much-loved Burrell, who portrays the friendly character of Phil Dunphy, was missing from the festival.

Fans Worried Over Ty Burrell’s Absence From ‘Modern Family’ Reunion

“Modern Family,” which ran from 2009 to 2020, stood out as one of ABC’s most beloved comedies with 11 seasons. The cast, who deliver stellar performances as the Dunphy and Pritchett families, include Vergara, Burrell, Nolan Gould, Eric Stonestreet, Julie Bowen, Ariel Winter, Ed O’Neill, Rico Rodriguez, Sarah Hyland, and Jesse Tyler Ferguson.

Thanks for finding a way into the hearts of fans, it was joy in abundance when Vergara uploaded some photos from their first official reunion as a group on social media. In the first image of the three-slide broadcast, all cast members, including show co-creator Steve Levitan, flash their best smiles as they pose for the camera.

The last picture in the post reveals Ferguson [Mitchell Pritchett]and Hyland threw up a peace sign on the couch while Vergara rested on a fourth person, who was raising a wine glass.

For her final piece, Vergara shared a reel that begins with the camera focusing on a framed photo of Burrell sitting on a fireplace. He was also heard saying, “We miss you, Ty,” along with the rest of his cast mates before the film moved to show Hyland and the rest of the crew.

Hyland yells “I love you, dad,” while her on-screen uncle, Stonestreet [Cameron Tucker], blowing chef kisses on camera. The actor’s actions instantly turned the Instagram video’s comment section upside down as fans assumed the worst had happened to the beloved actor.

“Bruh, I thought Phil died. I almost had a mini heart attack,” wrote one fan, as another admitted, “Had to google and check if Phil is still alive,” and a third wondered, “Is it just me or the heart I paused thinking Phil was dead?”

A fourth Instagram user commented, “I had to check Google to make sure he’s not dead,” while a fifth claimed, “This scares me. I thought Ty Burrell died or something. Holy h— lol,” and a sixth stated, “Cardboard cutouts will get better. You all scare us. Lol.”

Seeing the fun side of the update, another netizen said, “I LIVE FOR THIS!! But why do you look like Tyler is dead?” Another fan observed, “The flower arrangement in the center didn’t help either… and everyone was wearing black.”

Likewise, this person mused, “No but tell me why my favorite character is always missing,” as another stated, “Phil is typical, makes us think worse. He should be an iPad robot if he can’t do it,” and another joked, “They killed Phil.”

The doting cast member cemented the memory of the day by sharing three photos of the sweet reunion on Instagram. In the first slide, the 48-year-old puts his hand on Anderson-Emmons’ shoulder and they both smile for the camera.

What followed was a sniff of a flyer for a school production and a glimpse of the 16-year-old on stage. Talking about the teenagers’ performance and reminiscing about their history, Ferguson wrote in the caption:

“I got to see my talented daughter @aubreyandersonemmons in her high school production of THE BURN. It’s crazy to think Aubrey was only a few months older than Beckett when I met her! Look at him now!!! Congratulations, Aubrey! You are amazing! Love you! You make papa pretend to be proud.”
