Fans Slams The Oscars For Painfully Excluding Anne Heche From In Memoriam Segment

Although there were no headline-grabbing incidents from the Oscars this year like last time’s “slap” saga, the academy faced backlash for failing to honor Anne Heche.

During the ceremony, there was a segment called “In Memoriam,” where legends who passed away in the past year were remembered and honored. Unfortunately, fans who watched the show this year were not happy because they felt slighted because the “Six Days and Seven Nights” star’s name was not included.

Outrage over Anne Heche Excluded from Oscars In Memoriam Segment

Despite Lenny Kravitz’s performance of “Calling All Angels,” which added an emotional dimension to the moment, viewers still expressed outrage at the 95th Academy Awards for excluding the “Donnie Brasco” star during the segment.

Fans of the star who found the act disrespectful took to Twitter to share their thoughts without holding back. This person recorded, “The Oscars should be ashamed not to include the immensely talented, too often underrated Anne Heche in their In Memoriam montage. #Oscars.”

A Twitter user expressed surprised by the exception of the cast of “Volcano”. They noted that he faced major challenges in his life, including “mental health and substance use issues” stemming from early childhood trauma and scrutiny from the tabloids after coming out as bisexual.

A die-hard fan can’t help but ask angrily, “Where the F*CK is Anne Heche.” This person did not understand why his name was left out and called out the Academy for making what they described as a terrible mistake. They believe he deserves respect regardless of how he died, adding:

“Regardless of how he died, he was an interesting actor, which deserves recognition.”

Even conspiracy theorists aren’t far behind, like this one who feels there’s an evil motive behind his departure. They quoted tweets from New York Post, which had the headline, “Paul Sorvino, Anne Heche snubbed by Oscars: Stars missing from In Memoriam.” On it, they write:

“Pretty crazy that he killed Anne Heche for trying to produce a documentary about child abuse in Hollywood.”

The actor, who died on August 11, 2022, at the age of 53, died after crashing into a house which resulted in a massive fire. Heche eventually died of “inhalation and heat injuries” and “spinal fractures from blunt force trauma.” An autopsy report obtained by The Blast revealed that he had cocaine and other drugs in his system at the time of the fatal accident.

Toxicology results also showed that he had benzoylecgonine, an inactive metabolite of cocaine, in his system at the time of the fatal car accident. It also revealed that although cannabinoids were detected in the urine sample, they were not present in his bloodstream, indicating prior but not immediate use.

Additionally, fentanyl was found in his bloodstream, but it was administered as part of his treatment at the hospital after the accident. Despite the presence of these substances in his system, there was no evidence of impairment by banned substances at the time of the accident.
