It’s an action movie brought to life.
A Kansas farmer and his son are being hailed as heroes after they bravely rescued a semi truck driver who had a medical episode on the highway.
The truck driver was traveling west on Interstate 70 in Sherman County on Tuesday when he suddenly “passed out” behind the wheel, Sherman County Sheriff Burton Pianalto said.
The truck entered the median and was fortunately between both lanes of traffic for about a quarter of a mile as it slowed.
When a father and son traveling in the same direction spot the out-of-control truck, they act like something out of a James Bond movie.
The truck had slowed enough that her son, Brady Ginther, was able to jump into the passenger side of the vehicle. He tried to get inside, but the door was locked.
Ginther asked his father, Brent Ginther, to throw the hammer at him. He grabbed it and then broke the window, crawled into the truck and brought it to a stop about an eighth of a mile before falling 30 feet.

“This action is more likely to save the lives of truck drivers along with protecting all other travelers on I-70 and Highway 27,” Pianalto said.
“It’s amazing what people will do to help others they don’t know.”
Brent Ginther told KWCH that he is often on the highway to and from his farmland in western Kansas and eastern Colorado. He said he didn’t think much of the truck at first when he first saw it.

“I said, ‘What’s going on there?’ And all my mercenaries who were with me just said, ‘Well, nobody’s driving that truck’,” he said.
He said they realized they had to close the truck when his son bravely climbed into it.
The truck “put it out just in time,” he said.
Brent and Brady Ginther received a lot of love from the community for their quick thinking since the Sherman County Sheriff’s Office shared the story on social media.
“They need some kind of big award from the mayor, the governor, and the president. This is incredible,” one Facebook user opined, while another wrote, “It’s incredible they could make this happen. Thankfully they are in the right place and ready to help. Hero for sure.”
“We appreciate everything and (we’re) just good farm guys and we’ll help anybody in a situation if anybody needs help,” Brent Ginther said.
