‘Fauda’ star Lior Raz ducks rockets on real-life mission to rescue Israelis in war

Israeli actor and former commando Lior Raz, star of the popular Netflix series “Fauda,” played a real hero by going to the aid of his “brothers in arms” in a city under fire from Hamas.

Raz, 51, posted a video of himself crouching down and cursing as he took cover behind a wall as rockets flew overhead.

“Accompanied by Yohanan Plesner and Avi Issascharoff, I headed south to join hundreds of brave ‘brothers in arms’ volunteers who work tirelessly to help the people of southern Israel,” he wrote on Instagram.

“We were sent to the bombed city of Sderot to evacuate two families. No fear!” the gruff actor added.

Like Raz, Issascharoff, 50, co-creator of “Fauda,” serves in the IDF’s elite 217 Duvdevan Unit, known as “Mista’aravim,” soldiers who infiltrate Arab communities undercover.

Plesner is president of the Israel Democracy Institute and has served as a member of the Knesset, Israel’s parliament.

He also has strong military credentials, having served as an officer in the proud Sayeret Matkal commando unit.

In “Fauda,” which means “chaos” in Arabic, Raz plays the role of Doron Kavillo, who works undercover in the Gaza Strip, where he is the commander of the Mista’aravim unit during the third season.

“We cannot enter the Gaza Strip as Israelis,” he told The Post in 2020. “It is too dangerous and it is forbidden. It’s a different kind of country.” So, to make everything look as realistic as possible, Raz and series co-creator Avi Issacharoff had to get creative.

Raz also played Israeli tour guide Segev Azulai in the Netflix thriller “Hit and Run,” in which he avenges his wife’s murder by traveling to the Big Apple.
