Female University of Wisconsin student raped and beaten by stranger was snatched off the street

The rape and beating of a female student at the University of Wisconsin in Madison over the weekend has the campus community in an uproar.

Local police are asking for the public’s help in tracking down the unidentified assailant, who left him critically injured in the college town’s commercial district at 3:30 a.m. Sunday.

The stranger broke the woman’s jaw, strangled her and caused “life-threatening” injuries in the attack, police said.

He was rushed to a local hospital after a passerby saw his condition and called the police.

The woman in her 20s is expected to survive.

A local resident said he was “grazed” from the street and dragged between two houses before the attack, according to WISN.
