Former Presidents Barack Obama and Bill Clinton issued statements Monday afternoon condemning Hamas’ bloody attack on Israel — more than two full days after the terrorist atrocity began.
“All Americans should be horrified and outraged by the brazen terrorist attacks on Israel and the slaughter of innocent civilians,” Obama write on Xformerly Twitter, shortly after 5 p.m
“We mourn their deaths, pray for the return of those who have become hostages, and stand tall with our ally, Israel, as it dismantles Hamas,” he continued. “As we support Israel’s right to defend itself against terrorism, we must continue to work towards a just and lasting peace for Israel and Palestine.”
Obama famously had a frosty relationship with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who gave a speech to the GOP-led House of Representatives in 2015 that disparaged the 44th president’s Iran nuclear deal.
Almost exactly an hour later, Clinton weighed in.

“I condemn the horrific terrorist attacks carried out by Hamas in Israel, and mourn the senseless loss of life. My heart goes out to all those affected by terrorism, including American families. Now is the time for the world to rally against terrorism and support Israeli democracy,” the 42nd president said in X’s own post.
“I stand with the Israeli government and all Israelis, and urge them to stand together. This is the time to focus on purpose rather than politics.”
Clinton helped broker the Oslo Accords of the mid-1990s between the Palestinians and Israel, which ultimately failed to bring peace between the two sides.

“My prayers are with all those affected by the horrific attacks by Hamas in Israel,” wrote the former first lady, senator from New York, and secretary of state. “The United States stands in strong support of our allies, today and every day.”
Meanwhile, former presidents Donald Trump, 77, George W. Bush, also 77, and Jimmy Carter, 99, or their foundations have all issued statements in support of the Jewish state.
The Carter Center said in a statement Sunday that it “strongly condemns the targeting of Israeli and Palestinian civilians and calls for genuine dialogue and international collective action to stop hostilities in the region.”

The George W. Bush Presidential Center in Texas said it “condemns in the strongest possible terms the brutal terrorist attack on Israel that claimed the lives of many innocent civilians. We urge the United States and our allies to stand firmly with Israel, its government and people, and support Israel’s right to defend itself against this threat.”
Trump, who is seeking a second term as president, quickly condemned the violence in his own statement: “This attack by Hamas is shameful, and Israel has the right to defend itself with extraordinary force.”
Biden has delivered a public statement on the situation and deployed American warships to the region in response to the bloodshed.
“The United States strongly condemns this horrific attack on Israel by Hamas terrorists from Gaza, and I made it clear to Prime Minister Netanyahu that we are ready to offer all appropriate means of support to the Government and people of Israel,” the president said Saturday afternoon. in a brief review from the State Dining Room.
Hamas, a Palestinian terrorist group largely based in the Gaza Strip, caught Israeli defenses off guard with thousands of rockets and ground attacks at dawn.
At least 900 Israelis are believed to have been killed in the bloody violence with an estimated 2,600 injured, according to Israel Military Radio.
