There is no higher compliment for a Halloween decoration enthusiast.
The Glens Falls Fire Department was called to a home for a “confirmed structure fire” in the north side town on Saturday, and firefighters were surprised to see no fire — instead, a premature yet “amazing” Halloween display.
A video provided by the homeowner to firefighters shows the elaborate setup, which makes the home look like a potential crime scene. The decoration made it look as if the house was actually on fire, with fake flames burning and seemingly engulfing the interior through the windows.
“We were surprised, this was an amazing Halloween decoration,” the fire department said. “This display will be held on Friday and Saturday nights for the entertainment of the public until the end [October].”
They added that the spectacle was the result of “two LED lights, a box fan, silver pieces” and a fog machine.

The majority of Facebook commenters — including the fire department — praised the homeowners for their creativity.
“Our neighbors are really creative! Thank God, John & Matt are so realistic!” the obvious neighbor wrote, and the fire department’s official Facebook page responded, “They’re both awesome! Thanks again we love this call.”
“That’s amazing! Gonna get a lot of calls for this one,” another exclaimed.

“Wow, that’s crazy, how realistic it looks crazyyyy,” said another.
However, one said “it’s probably a good idea to let the fire department know you’re doing this so they know if they get a call for it.”
