“Fix My Frankenhouse” Season 1 Is Set To Premiere On HGTV

Fix My Frankenhouse, HGTV’s next home improvement program launches this week. In the new series, two Boston-based home restoration professionals will fix up a “Frankenstein” property by coming up with ideas that will work with the current owners.

According to the show’s press release on HGTV:

“After identifying key issues caused by improper layouts, misplaced stairs and labyrinthine corridors, Mike will use his construction expertise to create a functional flow, while Denese will capture their client’s style with a custom finish.”

It went on to say:

“By combining elements of the old house’s charm with modern design, the couple will create a stunning and compact space for the homeowner.”

On HGTV, the season debut of Fix My Frankenhouse season 1 will air on Sunday, April 23 at 9pm ET.

The couple will fix up a house from the 1900s in the season premiere of Fix My Frankenhouse.

Fix My Frankenhouse, the upcoming series, will follow home restoration professionals and married couple Mike and Denese Butler as they take an ancient house and transform it into a functional home that the current occupants will love and enjoy. The couple will face a house built in the 1900s with “cramped and dysfunctional spaces” but also incredible historic features in the season opener. They had to tear down walls, rebuild the kitchen and dining room, and build a “huge mud room and spa-like bathroom” to give the first Fix My Frankenhouse house a contemporary look.

Denese said that although the house had been lovingly restored, it was not functioning properly. He saw that if you opened the refrigerator door, it would hit the store, and if you tried to take anything from under the sink, the door would hit the stove.

According to a network news release:

“As the season progresses, Mike and Denese will work with their father, master carpenters John Butler and Peter Doyle, to deliver unique projects for each family, including an island with built-in bench seating and a repurposed antique chest.”

Meanwhile, Mike Butler claims that some owners may have made improvements to the house over time, eventually turning it into a “franken house.” He went on to say that his favorite aspect of the job was solving difficulties for the residents of the house. As part of his job, he rearranges floor plans and creates new layouts that maximize functionality.

Denise noted that after the couple completed the new arrangement of the space, she would use a coherent contemporary design to restore “flow” to the home. The Fix My Frankenhouse cast member says that their clients don’t always know what they want, and it’s her job to guide them through the design process. The Solution While speaking with House Digest, the My Frankenhouse host talked about filming the HGTV program. According to Denese, each property on this program has its own look that reflects its owner.

He hopes the program will inspire viewers to “find who they are and bring out certain cool aspects” of themselves and integrate them into their homes. On HGTV, the season debut of Fix My Frankenhouse season 1 will air on Sunday, April 23 at 9pm ET.
