Florida cruise passengers sickened by unknown illness: ‘My throw up was bright blue’

Several passengers aboard a Florida-based cruise ship contracted an unknown illness that caused one woman to vomit tainted with a mysterious blue color, according to reports.

Miranda Hill fell ill shortly after departing Jacksonville aboard Carnival Cruise Line’s Elation last week with her boyfriend’s family.

Although he initially thought he was just seasick, it soon became clear that it was something more

“My vomit is bright blue and I’ve never eaten anything blue and every time I see blue vomit, it has to do with poisoning,” he told First Coast News.

So instead of enjoying a relaxing five-day vacation at sea, the woman said she spent half her time on the cruise using an IV in the ship’s hospital.

And he’s not the only one. Her boyfriend’s family members, some of her friends and other passengers experienced similar symptoms, according to Hill.

“My friend who came with me, he vomited live parasites,” he told the outlet.

On Monday, Carnival Cruise Lines reportedly said people aboard the Elation had symptoms of gastroenteritis, or the stomach flu.

Carnival reportedly said in a statement that several passengers disembarked with stomach flu. First Coast News Hill and her boyfriend each received a $95 cruise credit. First Coast News

When contacted for comment on the incident, a spokesperson for Carnival Cruise Lines told the Post that they had “nothing to share” at this time, but said the company would provide information when it became available.

Miranda, who believed she had food poisoning, said she and her boyfriend were each given a $95 credit from the cruise line after the ship docked in Jacksonville.

“I just hope they do better, they clean their ships, they tell us to wash their hands but who knows if the cooks wash their hands,” Hill said.
