Florida man arrested for torching car belonging to his cousin — who’s also his girlfriend

A Florida man was arrested Wednesday for arson after he allegedly set fire to cars belonging to his girlfriend and cousin — who were the same — several months ago.

Melvin Alain Cintron, 37, was caught on camera setting his cousin and his girlfriend’s Jaguar XE sedan on fire in front of a home in North Miami on April 29, according to an arrest report obtained by Local 10.

Investigators determined the sedan belonged to Cintron’s girlfriend, but were unable to interview her until Monday, the station reported.

She initially said her car caught fire as she was driving home because she was afraid of what Cintron would do if she told police the truth, according to the report.

Every time she talked to investigators about what happened to her car, her boyfriend told her to put the phone on speaker.

When he was finally able to speak freely, he told officers that he was afraid of Cintron because he carried a fully automatic pistol with a dual-drum high-capacity magazine on him regularly and also had a nickname for his drum.

Cintron reportedly called the two round drums on the side of the magazine a “t—–s” gun, the report said.

The unnamed woman also told police that her alleged pyromaniac boyfriend stole her purse and left her stranded from a Miami mall on Friday.

Cintron reportedly became jealous when he thought a bartender was flirting with his cousin and the two argued before he grabbed her bag — which contained $1,200 in cash, police said.

Police obtained an arrest warrant for Cintron, of Hollywood, FL., Monday and was arrested at gunpoint Wednesday.

He has been charged with second-degree arson and third-degree grand theft and is being held at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center on a $12,500 bond, Local10 reported.
