A Florida man has been arrested for allegedly leaving his dead wife’s body to rot on the floor of their home for days and letting their two dogs chew on her legs, police said.
Gary Johnson, 60, of Panama City, has been charged with improper storage of human remains in connection with Saturday’s gruesome incident.
Johnson called 911 that night claiming there was an unknown person at his home on Lantana Street, and he believed his wife, Evamarie MacGregor, was dead, according to a probable cause affidavit obtained by The Post.
When the police officers arrived, no one answered the front door, but one of them saw through the window a woman lying on the floor covered in blood.
Officers forced their way into the home to check on MacGregor’s well-being and quickly determined that he had passed away.

“Ms. MacGregor had clearly died with skin missing from her face and her entire left leg completely removed from her leg,” the affidavit said.
Johnson was present at the home but “appeared confused and disoriented,” officials said.
The husband explained to the police that his wife’s leg was missing because her two dogs had gnawed on it.

Later, during a taped interview at the police department, Johnson allegedly told investigators that he remembered hearing his wife calling for help in the living room, but he said that when he called her, she was already dead.
Johnson claimed MacGregor had died about four days earlier, but the affidavit stated that based on the state of her body’s decomposition, the woman appeared to have been dead for more than five days.
“Mr. Johnson then restrained him [sic] the living room floor because he didn’t want to lose it,” the filing said.
