A Florida couple was shot to death in their home Saturday – just a week after tying the knot, according to reports.
The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office says it has arrested a suspect, Sony Josaphat, in connection with a murder in West Palm Beach.
The names of the victims were not released after shocked relatives invoked a Florida law that prevents the identification of crime victims.
“She’s never been as cheerful as she is now,” a relative said of the bride, telling WPTV she and her husband had just gotten married the previous Saturday, which was also the bride’s birthday.
The couple’s wedding photo shows the female victim, a longtime nurse practitioner, smiling broadly next to her new pastor husband.
The victims, who regularly attended local churches, were both from Haiti, the woman’s sister said.

Three of the wife’s children were in the house when Josaphat is said to have shot her and her partner.
One of her adult children witnessed the shooting, according to reports.
Neighbors in the usually quiet community said they heard a loud bang but thought the couple were working on their home.

Police were called and found both bodies with multiple gunshot wounds.
Homicide detectives immediately identified Josaphat as a suspect in the case and executed a search warrant at a home on the same block.
Josaphat was arrested after a brief interview inside the residence.
The police have not yet released the motive for the murder.
Josaphat faces two counts of first-degree murder and was ordered held without bond. He is scheduled to appear in court again early next month.
