Talk about a sick trip.

A Florida hospital patient still wearing a medical gown was arrested Wednesday after he stole an ambulance, police said.

Marquisa Allen, 25, of Miami is charged with leading Port St. Lucie is on a strange chase when she spontaneously decides to steal the driverless truck.

Officials said he had been sitting on a bench outside HCA Florida Hospital St. Lucie – wearing a blue hospital gown – when she noticed the EMS staff leaving the ambulance running while they unloaded a patient inside.

Allen pulled out of the hospital parking lot, but failed to consider one detail: the ambulance was equipped with a GPS tracker that immediately gave officers its exact location, PSLPD said in a statement.

He was quickly spotted in the middle of a Florida Turnpike traffic jam.

Allen allegedly jumped out of the vehicle and sped away – despite not wearing any shoes – but was soon apprehended by Florida Highway Patrol troopers.

According to a PSLPD spokesperson, Allen was not being held at the hospital and was “free to leave” when he picked up the ambulance.

Officials could not reveal why he was in the hospital in the first place, but stressed that there is no behavioral unit at the medical center.

Troopers accused him of giving false information to police, driving with a suspended license and nonviolent resistance.

PSLPD anticipates adding additional charges to the list.
