A 21-year-old woman recently released by Hamas after being abducted from a music festival in Israel on October 7 has been given a defiant tattoo that reads, “We will dance again.”
Mia Schem – an Israeli-French tattoo artist who was kidnapped by Hamas from the rave desert’s Nova Tribe and later released as part of a temporary truce between the terrorist organization and Israel – shared a photo of her new ink in a moving Instagram post. Saturday night.
A tattoo on Schem’s left arm reads, “We will dance again” above “7.10.23” to mark the horrific attack, when hundreds of Israelis were killed and he and dozens of others kidnapped, sparking the start of the Israel-Hamas war.
“I will never forget October 7, 2023,” Schem wrote in the post.
“Pain and fear, difficult sights, friends who will never return, and who we must bring back. But we will win, we will dance!”

Schem was among dozens of partygoers kidnapped by Hamas from the rave, where Hamas slaughtered nearly 400 other festivalgoers.
Shortly after the start of the war, he was seen in a chilling video released by Hamas showing him receiving treatment from a vet for a wound to his right arm.
“Right now, I’m in Gaza,” Schem tells the camera in Hebrew in the 60-second clip.

He said he was wounded and taken across the border, where he underwent three hours of surgery to treat his undisclosed injuries.
“They took care of me, gave me medicine, everything was fine. I just ask them to take me home as soon as possible to my parents, to my siblings,” he said in the video. “Get me out of here as soon as possible. Please.”
Schem’s family held a series of press conferences following the release of the video, pleading for his safe return.
Hamas released a video of Schem receiving treatment for his injuries.
The young tattoo artist was released by Hamas on November 30 and has since been reunited with his family, who said he was “traumatized” by what the terrorist organization did to him.
“He was thin, he was weak,” his aunt, Vivian Hadar, said of Schem, noting, “A vet operated on his arm. He does physical therapy for himself.
“He knew he had to massage his own hands,” Hadar explained of his relative, adding that Schem’s hands were still “very sore.”

His aunt said she didn’t ask Schem much about what he experienced during his nearly 50 days in captivity “because when we started asking, we saw that it was difficult for him.
“We’re glad he’s with us,” Hadar said, but “it’s hard to see him in this situation.
“It was not an easy time,” said the aunt. “It’s not easy what he’s going through, and we’re looking forward to it.”
A temporary truce between Israel and Hamas that allowed Schem’s release ended earlier this month, as the Jewish state blamed the terror group for violating the truce by launching rockets into Israeli territory before the deal expired.
Immediately after the ceasefire ended, the Israeli military continued its offensive in Gaza, launching airstrikes on Palestinian territory for the first time since a ceasefire began on 24 November.
