The trailer for the upcoming season gives the first look at Ali’s new role as a teacher to her 90-year-old character. Additionally, it showed us glimpses of Will being recruited by a big basketball scout and Carlton being entangled in a fierce battle.
TVLine shares that Ali will play the role of an English teacher named Mrs. Hughes to Akira Akbar’s Ashley-in-person. According to the testimony, “an English Literature teacher at a Bel-Air high school who saw something special in Ashley, often gave her books from his personal collection.”

The series is a dramatic take on the original comedy series that follows Will’s [Jabari Banks] complicated journey from the streets of West Philadelphia to the gated Bel-Air mansion. However, the second season will find the character “at a crossroads when a new figure appears in his life who challenges what he learned in Bel-Air and competes for control over his influence.”
The new episode will see his two worlds collide, forcing him to get to know the power of second chances as he navigates the conflicts, biases and emotions of a world far different from the only one he’s ever known. Also, Will and Carlton’s brotherhood will “begin to grow as they grow closer, but still challenge each other about their differences” during this episode.
According to the news outlet’s synopsis, the show’s latest episode will also see Will “navigate his home life with the Banks family and try to rebuild the trust that was broken at the end of last season.”
