Fugitive Texas mom charged with murdering son Noel Rodriguez-Alvarez —  one year after he was last seen alive

A Texas mother who fled the country shortly after her 6-year-old son mysteriously disappeared was charged with his murder on Monday – nearly a year after he was last seen alive.

Cindy Rodriguez-Singh, 38, who is hiding in India, was indicted by a Tarrant County grand jury on one count of first degree murder, two counts of injury to a child and one count of abandoning a child with no intention of return.

Investigators hope the charges will help bring him back to US soil, where he could face trial for allegedly killing Noel Rodriguez-Alvarez, who suffered years of abuse before his disappearance.

“This is an exciting part of the investigation where we feel our work in this effort is finally paying off if we can find justice for Noel and push to the finish line, but at the same time, it also confirms our biggest fear,” said the Chief of Police Everman Craig Spencer at a press conference.

“We obviously have our beliefs as investigators, but now we’ve asked the citizens of Tarrant County to look at this and confirm they agree with us. It’s exactly what we think about this, so it’s emotional.”

Noel, who has special needs, has been missing since October 2022, last seen alive shortly after his twin sisters were born.

Police were not alerted to his disappearance until March, and Rodriguez-Singh – described by police as having an extensive criminal history – fled to India just two days after they knocked on his door, along with Arshdeep Singh, Noel’s stepfather, and six of them . his siblings.

The investigation quickly turned into a murder case after a cadaver dog alerted police to human remains in a filthy shack called the family.

Rodriguez-Singh reportedly believed Noel was possessed by the devil and routinely abused the boy.

Family members told police he would withhold food and water from Noel because he didn’t like changing his diapers and would hit him if he caught him eating by himself.

When Noel went missing, he allegedly tried to explain his disappearance by lying, including that he was in Mexico with his biological father and that he had been sold to a stranger at a local grocery store.

“I can’t wait until they get him and bring him back,” Spencer said.

“The way he treated this boy and all the sad things that happened in his life, it just continues to reinforce our belief that he’s dead and that he killed him, in my mind.”
