Gajendra Singh Chauhan, better known as Gajendra Chauhan, is an Indian actor. He is best known for playing the role of ‘Yudhishthira’ in the epic television series “Mahabharat” (1988-90). He remained the chairman of the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII) from June 2015 to October 2017.

Gajendra Chauhan was born on Wednesday, 10 October 1956 (age 64 years; in 2020) in Delhi. His zodiac sign is Libra. He got his schooling from Delhi’s Ramjas Sr. Sec. School No.-2. After completing his schooling, Gajendra obtained a diploma in radiography from the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS). He then moved to Mumbai and enrolled himself in the Roshan Taneja acting school to polish his acting skills.

Career

Gajendra started his acting career in 1983 with the television series “Paying Guest.” After that, she went on to act in shows like “Rajni,” “Air Hostess,” and “Adalat.” Chauhan made his film debut in 1986 with the film “Main Chup Nahi Rahoongi.” He has also worked in several Grade B and Grade C films.

In 1988, he played the role of ‘Yudhishthira’ in the Indian epic TV series “Mahabharat” and gained immense popularity.

  • In 2015, he was appointed chairman of the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII), which sparked controversy and opposition by FTII students, leading to his resignation in October 2017.
  • On 11 July 2021, he courted controversy when he took to Twitter to claim that he had won the prestigious Dadasaheb Phalke Award 2021, and Twitterati asked ‘Who are you?’ He shared the picture and wrote,
