Career

He started his career by assisting the famous Choreographer, Kamalji, till his death. At the age of 10, he created his own dance group, becoming a choreographer at the age of 19. His debut as a choreographer in a film was with the 1992 film “Anaam.”

  • Following the #MeToo Movement in India, Tanushree Dutta alleged that Nana Patekar misbehaved with her on the sets of the film “Horn Ok Please (2009).” He also claimed that all directors and producers including choreographer Ganesh Acharya ganged up against him. Later, Ganesh defended himself and Nana Patekar, saying that there was no violence or misbehavior on the sets. He added, Nana can’t do that because she is a very sweet person. There were even reports of him filing a complaint against Nana and Ganesh.
  • Ganesh Acharya had filed a complaint against Cinema Artists Association members Gangeshwar Shrivastav, BN Tiwari, and Ashok Dubey for stopping the shooting of his film for three hours. According to Ganesh, he supported a group of dancers who protested against the association after it failed to pay their dues. Some people from the association stopped the shooting for three hours and threatened him that he would not be allowed to shoot again because he supported the dancers.
  • In January 2020, an assistant choreographer Ganesh Acharya accused him of sexual exploitation.
