Gardener grows a nearly 20-pound onion that may have broken world record

This onion made him cry tears of joy.

A gardener in England brought a nearly 20lb onion to a flower show in North Yorkshire – and organizers believe the giant vegetable may set a world record.

Gareth Griffin’s big vegetable – who weighed 19.77lb – beat the previous record of 18.68 set in 2014.

Organizers of the Harrogate Autumn Flower Show, which runs until Sunday at Newby Hall & Gardens, posted the onion on its Instagram page, with a disclaimer saying the achievement was still pending a Guinness World Records review.

“I wonder how many onion rings you can make out of these?” a cheeky Instagrammer stares.

Another quipped: “I think I’m going to cry if I see it!”

The precious onion can be found on display at the Incredible Edible Pavilion exhibit among other large vegetables such as cabbage, cucumber and carrot.
