Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis had an “inappropriate” and “undercover” relationship with a married special prosecutor who helped secure a Georgia grand jury indictment against former President Donald Trump, a co-defendant in the election meddling case charged Monday.
A powerful court filing by former Trump 2020 campaign official Michael Roman argues that Willis should be disqualified from the case and the charges against him dropped because “the district attorney chose to appoint his romantic partner, who at all times relevant to this prosecution has been a married man. ” to the case.
Roman contends that Nathan Wade, a private attorney with the Atlanta-based Wade & Campbell Firm, used some of the nearly $654,000 in legal fees he was compensated by the Fulton County DA’s office for his work on the Trump case to take Willis on a luxury vacation to “the Valley Napa, California, Florida and the Caribbean.”

“Mr. Roman … moved the Court to obtain an order disqualifying the district attorney, his office and the special prosecutor from continuing to prosecute the instant matter on the grounds that the district attorney and the special prosecutor had engaged in an improper and confidential personal relationship during the suspension of the case. this, which has resulted in the special prosecutor, and, in turn, the district attorney, profiting greatly from these prosecutions at the expense of taxpayers,” the 127-page filing said.
“Therefore, the district attorney and special prosecutor have violated laws governing the use of public funds, have an irremediable conflict of interest, and have violated their oath of office under the Georgia Rules of Professional Conduct and should be disqualified from prosecuting this matter, ” it continued.

Roman’s filing claims that “sources close to both the special prosecutor and the district attorney” have confirmed that Willis and Wade had an ongoing love affair, and that Wade filed for divorce in Cobb County, Ga., “one day after her first contract with Willis began ” in November 2021.
“Additionally, the district attorney and special prosecutor have been seen privately together (in a personal relationship capacity) in and around the Atlanta area and are believed to be living together in some form or fashion in a location neither of them owns. ,” the filing claims.

The motion argues that Willis’ failure to disclose his alleged relationship with Wade while paying him for his work on the Trump case with funds he allegedly used to take a vacation with the DA could constitute honest services fraud as well as “a predicate act that could result in RICO charges against both attorneys district and special prosecutor.”
Trump, 77, and Roman were both charged with racketeering in the Willis case against them and 17 other co-defendants under Georgia’s Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations (RICO) Act.
Roman served as director of Election Day operations for Trump’s 2020 re-election campaign.
In the wake of the former president’s 2020 defeat, Roman allegedly joined efforts to field pro-Trump “fake voter” lists to deny President-elect Joe Biden victory in key states such as Arizona, Georgia, Michigan and Nevada.
He was indicted on seven felony charges last August by a Georgia grand jury convened by Willis.
Wade and the Fulton County DA’s office did not immediately respond to The Post’s request for comment.
