Georgia pageant queen Trinity Poague charged with murder of boyfriend’s son

An 18-year-old Georgia pageant queen has been charged with murdering her boyfriend’s son.

Trinity Poague was arrested on Friday and charged with felony murder, aggravated battery and cruelty to a child in the first degree, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) announced.

A week earlier, the George Southwestern State University (GSW) Police Department asked the GBI to look into the death of an 18-month-old child who died in the emergency room after being transported from a campus dormitory, investigators said.

“Investigations indicate an unresponsive 18-month-old boy was admitted to the emergency room at Phoebe Sumter Hospital in Americus, Georgia. Hospital staff performed life-saving measures on the child; however, he later died,” the GBI said.

The child likely died of blunt force trauma, Sumter County Coroner Mathis Wright told WALB.

The deceased child’s birth certificate identified him as Romeo Angles, Wright added.

The child’s father, however, gave the child’s name as Jaxton Drew at the hospital, the outlet said.

Poague – a former contestant in the National Peanut Festival Pageant – is currently being held without bond as the investigation is ongoing, the GBI said.

The GSW sophomore was previously crowned Miss Donalsnoville in 2023, WDHN reported.

Loved ones started a GoFundMe for the 18-month-old’s father, who is described in the fundraiser as the child’s “sole caretaker.”

As of Tuesday morning, the page had raised more than $9,190 of its $10,000 goal.
