Gerry Turner sat down with Bachelor Nation to talk about the upcoming journey of “The Golden Bachelor.” When asked, “What are you most excited about on your Golden Bachelor journey?”, the 71-year-old replied, “Wow, everything.”
He went on to explain how he thought the first night of his trip would be an “exciting” night. “I think Night One is going to be really interesting,” he said. “I have such a visual in my head for that. But what happens after that is what I’m most excited about. I want to really get to know everyone. Granted, time resources are limited, so I want to try to be a good questioner and listener which is good to really get to know women so I can make good decisions. I’m excited to really get to know them.”

The 71-year-old went on to explain how he has an incredible support system on this new journey and also shared some advice he’s received from friends and family.
“I’ve received all kinds of advice,” Turner said. “My fishing friend said one thing, my pickle friend said another. I haven’t received any advice from anyone who’s been on the show, so I’m just going to try my best.”

When asked if she still remembers the exact moment she found out she was going to be the world’s first “Golden Bachelor,” she excitedly replied, “Oh, yes, I remember clearly. I’ll never forget that moment.”
He went on to say, “It was Memorial Day morning and I was on a Zoom call, and then Jesse Palmer surprised me and just showed up. We had a few minutes of chatting and then Jesse said, “So, do you want to be the first Golden Bachelor?” And I said yes, I did. And then he asked what my family would think of that, and to set the stage, it was a holiday weekend and I lived on the lake, so all my family – my daughter and my granddaughter – were there. . So I said to Isai, ‘Well, how about you ask them yourself?’
