Gigi Hadid Sued For IG Post Supporting Sister Bella Hadid

Gigi Hadid thought she was doing a good thing when she dedicated an IG post to little sister Bella Hadid, but now she’s being sued…

It’s a Federal Lawsuit

The model really involved herself in something this time. He was hit with a federal lawsuit from a photographer named Ulice Ramales. He apparently shared one of his sister’s photos on Instagram but never asked for her permission, or compensated her.

The picture in question is one of Bella lifting her chest with her hands. The photo was taken back in 2020, and Gigi recently used it as part of a tribute post for Bella. He captioned the IG Story, “this energy!!!! 2020, 2021, 2022, forever @bellahadid.”

Ramales was informed of the post and insists he never gave Gigi permission to use his work. He claimed the photo lost its value after the model posted it to her millions of followers. The suit goes into detail about what Ramales wants.

In the lawsuit, the photographer claims:

“The Defendant has received financial benefits directly linked to the Violation. Upon information and belief, the Violation increased traffic to the Account and, in turn, caused Defendant to realize an increase in its own brand recognition and, in turn, increased public interest and/or awareness of its own business endeavors.”

The suit goes on to state, “Defendant’s use of the Photograph, if extensive, would adversely affect Plaintiff’s market potential for the Photographer.” It’s unclear how much the photographer is asking for an undisclosed amount of money and also wants an injunction against Gigi from using his work in the future.

Bella Hadid Also Accused

The model’s friend is also facing a lawsuit of her own. In a separate case, a company called Chosen Figure LLC is suing Bella Hadid. Featured Figures represent “professional photographers”.

This photographer claims they took a photo of Bella outside an apartment on August 12, 2020. Bella posted the photo, but it was registered with the copyright office. The summons reads:

“The Plaintiff does not grant the Defendant the right to use the Images in any way, and the Plaintiff does not assign any of its exclusive rights in copyright to the Defendant.” In Bella’s case, Chosen Figure is seeking all profits Bella made using their work as well as unspecified damages.

Photographers seem to love suing the Hadid sisters. Bella was sued twice in one week! First it was the agency, and a few days later photographer Robert O’Neil who filed a federal lawsuit against Bella on December 20 in New York.

He said he took a picture of Bella in a red bandana on the beach in 2019. He got the copyright for the image he took in early 2020, and shortly after Bella posted it. The photographer in court documents accused Bella of taking the photo and posting it on her Instagram profile, which has more than 56.6 million followers, without permission or payment to license it.
