A New York congressional candidate who is in Israel with his family said “nobody feels safe” as he described how Hamas terrorists broke into people’s homes following their Saturday morning sneak attack.
Daniel Norber, who opposed Rep. George Santos, told The Post from a bomb shelter as sirens blared Saturday that “this is Israel’s 9-11” as at least 300 are reported dead and more than 1,500 injured in the horrific attack. attack.
Norber — a former member of the Israel Defense Forces — was in Ra’anana near Tel Aviv for a Jewish holiday with his wife and four children. He said this was the worst sneak attack the country had faced since the 1973 Yom Kippur War.
“We heard sirens this morning,” he told The Post at around 8pm local time. “We thought maybe it was a mistake.”
“Right now nobody feels safe,” he added.
Norber, a native of Israel whose parents still live there, said terrorists entering people’s homes was shocking.

Dozens of soldiers and civilians have also reportedly been caught with sickening footage of the bloodshed on social media.
Norber, who believes terrorists are exploiting political strife in Israel, said his message to the American people is that the US needs to support its allies.

“Israel is the protector of American values and democracy in the Middle East,” Norber continued. “It is the only democracy in the Middle East.”
Norber, a small business owner in Bayside, Queens, announced his primary run against Santos this summer in the 3rd congressional district.
Santos lied about being Jewish when he ran for the seat in 2022 and tweeted that he stood in solidarity with Israel on Saturday.
“The United States must express its outrage at this cowardly terrorist attack on Israeli civilians,” Santos said. “I stand in solidarity with our loyal ally Israel and support their right to defend themselves against Hamas.”
