In 2021, Muthu invited controversy when a person named MMK Muhideen filed a complaint with the Ramanathapuram district Police Superintendent against Muthuin. In the complaint, he said the video posted by Muthu contained obscene language. In the complaint, he further added,

Every morning, the first thing I do is check TikTok. I was very disappointed when I saw the news this morning and realized that TikTok has been banned by the Indian government.
