It’s a storm over a teacup.
A JetBlue passenger claims she was assaulted by flight crew after trying to throw away her teacup and spoon.
Angela Siddell was on a flight from JFK Airport to Costa Rica on Oct. 31 to celebrate her recent retirement when the strange and very British brouhaha unfolded as she searched for a bin to dispose of her in-flight tea leftovers, she said in the lawsuit.
The 74-year-old grandmother of four, who lives in Jersey in the United Kingdom and used to work as a flight attendant, claimed she was on the toilet when the cabin crew came to collect the trash, and she only put it on the counter in the kitchen when she couldn’t find a trash can, according to the paper court.
The next thing he knew, an “unusually loud and verbally aggressive” female crew member falsely accused him of throwing a cup into the kitchen, according to court documents.
When Siddell asked for their employee’s name and identification number, the employee refused.
The cabin crew also wouldn’t give Siddell the pilot’s name, or provide a complaint form or paper for him to write his grievances on — so he used a barf bag instead.

The situation allegedly turned violent when Siddell walked to the back of the plane to read the accusatory flight attendant’s name tag, only to have a crew member grab his wrist “while another JetBlue cabin crew member refused.” [her] behind hard,” he said in court papers filed against the airline.
Siddell hit his head on the rear exit of the plane and was handcuffed behind his back before the flight was diverted to Orlando, where he and his traveling companion had booted.
He is seeking unspecified damages.
JetBlue did not respond to a request for comment.
