A Texas man allegedly shot two family members because he believed they were practicing witchcraft on him, police said.
Wilman Sandoval, 23, appeared to smile slightly in his mugshot after he was arrested on multiple charges at a Houston apartment complex on Sunday, police said.
Hours earlier, Sandoval allegedly “got up off the couch” and fired a black handgun into the kitchen where a relative was cooking, according to preliminary court records seen by The Post.
The first victim was shot six times, the document said.
When the second brother went to help the first with their injuries, Sandoval allegedly turned the gun on them and fired twice – hitting the other family member once in the head.
A third relative was also home at the time, and told authorities they saw Sandoval “point a black handgun directly” at them — but did not appear to have been shot, court filings show.
“The alleged shooter probably suspected that a family member did some kind of magic on him, and he was upset about it,” Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez explained at a press conference from the scene, according to KHOU11.
The two injured victims – a man and a woman – were in “fair condition” on Sunday night and are expected to survive, the sheriff wrote on X at that time.

It was unclear whether Sandoval had a history of mental health problems, the sheriff added.
“It seems like this is surprising to everyone,” he told the newspaper.
The gun used in the shooting was recovered from the scene, police said.

There were conflicting reports about how the victim was connected to Sandoval, and the Harris County Sheriff’s Office did not immediately respond to The Post’s request for comment.
Sandoval now faces three felony counts of aggravated assault, according to court records.
On Monday, a judge set his bond at $250,000.
Sandoval is due back in court on Friday.
