A&E Star Show Storage Wars Gunter Nezhoda reportedly died with his son at his bedside. follow TMZGunther’s son, Rene, announced his death Tuesday night in his sleep in Utah of complications from lung cancer in an emotional memorial message.
Gunter was diagnosed with cancer in September 2022, and the chemotherapy he received had negative effects. Rene said his father’s lung was punctured from the treatment, so Gunter flew to Utah recently for emergency surgery. However, Rene claims that doctors told his father that it was too late and “there was nothing more they could do.”
Rene uploaded an emotional video on Instagram Wednesday in which he broke the news of his father’s death and wrote the caption, “Very sad day for #storagewars #family #RIP #GunterNezhoda.” “My father six months ago was diagnosed with lung cancer – he had been smoking for 30 years,” he said in the clip. “He’s been smoking for a long time.”
“He was one of the Storage Wars that never got any hate,” Rene explained. “Everyone loves working with my dad.” At the time of his death, he was next to his youngest son Ricky Nezhoda. Rene stated that her family kept Gunter’s cancer battle a secret because they thought she would “make a full recovery” but “unfortunately she didn’t.”
Gunter concluded, “All the love you’ve shown and support, she really appreciates it, and now I hope she’s up there in heaven with my mom dancing again.”
