Hamas to release 3 American hostages Sunday, including 4-year-old orphan: report

Three Americans – including a 4-year-old child whose parents were killed by Hamas – are expected to be among 13 hostages released by Gaza on Sunday, marking the first time a US citizen will be freed since a fragile cease-fire between the terrorist organization and Israel.

Two unidentified women and Abigail Mor Edan, a young 4-year-old girl who was alone in captivity on Friday after being orphaned in the deadly invasion on October 7, are set to be released, senior US officials told CNN.

President Biden on Friday expressed hope that the young Israeli-American girl would be among those released this weekend, telling reporters, “I’m looking forward to it.”

Abigail was abducted by Hamas after fleeing her home in Kibbutz Kfar Aza where her father Roy Edan, 43, a photojournalist, and mother, Smadar Edan, were killed during the October 7 attack.

His siblings, 6 and 10, were able to escape after hiding in a closet for 14 hours.

Abigail was reportedly in her father’s arms when she and her mother were shot and killed by Hamas.

The young girl’s family hopes she will be released by her 4th birthday, which is Friday.

“The one thing we’re all holding on to is the hope that now that Abigail is home, she’s home on Friday,” her aunt Liz Hirsh Naftali told CNN Tuesday night.

“Friday is his 4th birthday. We need to see Abigail come out and then we will be able to believe her.”

Hamas on Saturday released a second group of 13 Israeli hostages and four Thai hostages following agonizing hours of delay after Hamas claimed that Israel had violated the terms of a four-day ceasefire in hostilities.

At least 70 aid trucks carrying food, water, fuel, and medical supplies entered the Gaza Strip through the Rafah crossing on Saturday.

The aid includes 150,000 liters of fuel and four trucks with natural gas for cooking as part of the ceasefire agreement, which will allow 200 aid trucks to enter the war-torn region.

The painful negotiations took place on the second day of a four-day ceasefire between the terror group and the Israeli government and prevented the release of 39 Palestinian prisoners who were to be given in exchange for 17 hostages kidnapped in Hamas violence on October 7. invasion.

The Israeli hostages released Saturday were identified as Shoshan Haran, 67, Adi Shoham, 38, Yahel Shoham, 3, Naveh Shoham, 8, Shiri Weiss, 53, Noga Weiss, 18, Maya Regev, 21, Hila Rotem, 13, Emily Hand, 9, Noam Or, 17, Alma Or, 13, Noam Avigdori, 12, and Sharon Avigdori, 52.
