A grenade-shaped bag of dog poop caused chaos at an Oregon high school, forcing students to move inside while the bomb squad investigated.
The McMinnville Police Department said in a Facebook post Wednesday that officers responded to a local high school at 10:35 a.m. Monday for a possible hand grenade on school grounds.
Authorities said they found the alleged grenade in a field near the school’s running track, far from any school buildings.
Arriving officers secured the area and contacted the Oregon State Police Bomb Squad as students were required to wait safely indoors.
The department said that they used the drone to get a clear close-up of the grenade while keeping a safe distance from the suspected explosives.
“After reviewing the photographs, the item was determined to be a dog waste bag dispenser manufactured to resemble a grenade,” the post said.
The items were removed from school property and school activities continued, the department said.
