Actor Sir Michael Gambon, best known for his role as Hogwarts Headmaster Albus Dumbledore in the popular film franchise, “Harry Potter,” has died at the age of 82.
Sir Gambon reportedly died with his family, wife Anne, and son Fergus while in hospital after “an attack of pneumonia.”
Besides his role in “Harry Potter,” Gambon is a prolific actor with several films under his belt.
From playing King Edward VII in “The Lost Prince” to his stellar performance as the villain in “The Insider,” the veteran actor has done and seen it all throughout his long and successful career.

Sir Michael Gambon, best known for his iconic performance as Albus Dumbledore in the “Harry Potter” films, has died at the age of 82. Gambon reportedly died after suffering an “attack of pneumonia.”
In a statement, the late actor’s family said: “We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of Sir Michael Gambon. A beloved husband and father, Michael died peacefully in hospital with his wife Anne and son Fergus at his bedside, following an attack of pneumonia.”
They continued, “We ask that you respect our privacy at this painful time and thank you for your messages of support and love.”
Gambon’s filmography is large and extensive and includes amazing performances in movies and TV shows like “Path to War” and “The Insider.”
During his illustrious career, he won four BAFTA TV Awards for best actor. First was in her career-defining role in “The Singing Detective,” and then for the 1999 TV series, “Wives and Daughters.” He got his third Bafta for the 2000s show, “Longitude,” and then the following year for “Perfect Strangers.”
