In a new update shared via her Instagram Story, Heather revealed that Tristan had to get a “tongue-tie checkup,” resulting in “his mama’s heart hurting today.”
“We had a checkup when he was a week and a half old. Unfortunately, the bottom,” said “The Flipping El Moussas” star, pointing to the underside of his tongue before continuing, “is really tight again and it’s not getting any better, even after doing all the exercises. We get bodywork all the time and stretching.”

A tearful Heather stated that even though she knew the procedure was the “best” option for her in the long run, it didn’t stop her from feeling upset and sad that it would hurt her. In case you didn’t know, tongue-tie — medically referred to as ankyloglossia — happens when the strip of skin that connects a baby’s tongue to the bottom of their mouth is shorter than normal.
While some tongue-tied babies don’t seem bothered by the condition, we think that Tristan falls into the category of babies who experience restrictions, including feeding difficulties.
In fact, his mother had previously talked about the problems she faced when the four-month-old boy latched on to his nipples. According to a February report from The Blast, the “Selling Sunset” star wrote via her Instagram feed:
“Been in hibernation mode mama for the past couple [of] week but a breath of fresh air today with my love ?? As promised, I want to talk to you about my breastfeeding journey because it sure is a journey !! I think…. I’ll just blow him on my breast and feed him anytime. Yes No!!!”
Heather later revealed that Tristan had been born with a “tie, cheek tie, lip tie and jaundice,” which prevented him from latching on quickly, ultimately causing weight loss. “Even with all this going on, I really love breastfeeding. I love the skin-to-skin connection and think it’s a wonderful bonding experience. It may be hard and challenging at the moment but it’s a special experience that I get to share with our baby boy and we work together to make it easier like we’re a little team ??,” said the doting mom. .

Over the weekend, The Blast detailed how Heather shut down claims that she prioritized her son over her stepchildren — Taylor and Brayden James, who her husband shares with ex-wife Christina Hall.
