Hollywood star Henry Cavill has said goodbye to his famous role as Geralt Of Rivia in Netflix’s “The Witcher”.
The medieval series, which debuted in 2019, was followed by a second installment in 2021, with both series receiving critical acclaim from fans and critics.
Although the actor will reprise his role in the upcoming third season, he recently shared on Instagram that it will be his last appearance. He also revealed that actor Liam Hemsworth will take over from him in season four.

In an emotional post, Cavil took to Instagram to inform fans that he will end his run as Geralt of Rivia in Netflix’s “The Witcher” after season 4
“My journey as Geralt of Rivia has been filled with monsters and adventure, and unfortunately, I will be putting down my medal and sword for Season 4,” the 39-year-old said over the weekend. Allaying the fears of fans who thought his departure signaled the end of the series, Cavill shared that “The Hunger Games” alum Hemsworth will take over the role.
He added, “In my place, the wonderful Mr. Liam Hemsworth will take on the mantle of White Wolf. Like the greatest literary characters, I respect the time spent fleshing out Geralt and am eager to see Liam’s take on this most interesting and nuanced man. In the same vein, Hemsworth took to his Instagram page to inform fans of the news and praised Cavill for portraying the character beautifully in previous seasons.
He wrote, “As a Witcher fan, I’m very excited about the opportunity to play Geralt of Rivia. Henry Cavill has been an incredible Geralt, and I am honored that he has given me the reins and allowed me to pick up the sword of the White Wolf for the next chapter of his adventure.”
The actor later admitted that he was excited to take on the part despite knowing that fitting Cavil’s personality might be difficult to crack.
He continued, “Henry, I’ve been a fan of yours for years and am inspired by what you bring to this beloved character. I may have some big boots to fill, but I’m really excited to step into the world of The Witcher.”

From the announcement, it’s clear that Geralt and Ciri will be hunted by some known and unknown forces as the warrior hunter begins training the former princess to use her magic after reuniting at the end of season two. The couple will also have the witch of the elf tribe, Yennefer, played by Cholatra, as an ally.
The synopsis reads in part, “As the kings, witches, and beasts of the Continent compete to capture her, Geralt takes Ciri from Cintra into hiding, determined to protect her newly reunited family against those who threaten to destroy her….They must fight back, put everything on the line or risk losing each other forever.”
