The sixth suggested that Disney/ABC should consider putting Tongi in “the live action Moana to help launch her career” since they also own “American Idol”. Another supporter tweeted“Iam Tongi deserved that win.”

PEOPLE observed that Tongi had previously touched the judges – Katy Perry, Lionel Richie, and Luke Bryan – during his audition, where he initially performed Blunt’s “Monsters”, dedicating it to his father, who died a few months before the ceremony. After the passionate performance, Richie told the singer:

“I’m not worried about whether you’ll make it through the song; I was worried if we would make it through the song. Your father is very proud.”

Meanwhile, Perry has spoken about it during a group interview, stating, “The sound in the room when Iam comes on is undeniable. He’s an undeniable character. He’s just got this incredible magic. You can hardly explain it. It is the IT factor. It’s like you were born to do this, and it’s undeniable.”

According to the papers, the Plaintiff brought a class action lawsuit against the ABC program on behalf of himself and “Class Members” after it forced Class Members and Aggrieved Employees to contribute their talents to a for-profit commercial enterprise that generates millions of dollars in revenue each season.

However, instead of identifying them as employers, the plan deliberately and illegally classifies them as ‘uncompensated volunteers.’ The plaintiff then accused “American Idol” of exercising excessive control over the individuals who worked and appeared on the program – controlling their time, their schedules, where they slept, and even their free will to eat and drink at any time.

Proving his point, the document alleges that Defendants told class members that they were not allowed to eat during the entire period since there was the potential to be recorded at that point. Their excuse for the instruction was that “eating doesn’t look good on camera.”

For their patience, the Plaintiffs seek monetary compensation in terms of unpaid overtime compensation, waiting time penalties, unpaid minimum wages, statutory penalties, restitution, attorneys’ fees and costs, and prejudgment interest, among others.

It should be noted that “Class Members” consist of unpaid or low-paid individuals who participate in or work on the creation of any non-scripted content production for the “American Idol” reality TV series.

In other cases, there are those who performed services of a commercial nature related to the creation of content, including but not limited to acting and singing, in California by, with, or on behalf of any Defendant during the Class Period.
