A heroic teenager stepped in to stop a runaway bus full of students from crashing into a petrol station in Australia in an act of bravery captured on video.
Izzy Miller, 14, said she saw the bus start to pull towards the Liberty gas station and mini market in Casino, New South Wales — and realized there was no one in the driver’s seat.
“I turned to talk to my friend, turned around for like two seconds and the bus started moving,” he told ABC News Australia. “And there’s no one at the wheel.”
“It was headed near the gas tank and no one was doing anything, so I jumped in, took action, and steered.”
He said his first thoughts were about the children on board.
“If I don’t do anything about it, something really bad could happen to the kids.”
Miller then jumped into the driver’s seat and pressed one of the pedals to determine if it was the brake.
“And then I was like, ‘OK, it stopped and I hit it again and [the bus] actually stop.”
