Candace Cameron Bure quickly lost the support of her entertainment friends.
The “Full House” actor recently made a few remarks about the LGBTQ+ community while discussing his role on the network’s Great American Family (GAF).
In an interview with The Wall Street Journal he made a statement about the network having “traditional marriage at its core.”

Bure had the audacity to say, “I think America’s Big Family will keep traditional marriage at its core.”
That said, he also softened the statement by saying, that no content he will create will “offend non-believers or someone who shares a different faith.”
Bure is the chief creative officer for the Great American Family (GAF) network.
GAF was founded by Bill Abbott, former CEO of Hallmark Channel. He said about featuring same-sex couples on the network, “Of course it’s 2022, so we’re aware of the trend. There’s no white board saying, ‘Yes, this’ or ‘No, we’re not going here.’”
He explains why he moved from Hallmark to GAF.
“My heart wants to tell a story with more meaning and purpose and depth behind it,” said Bure. “I know that the people behind America’s Big Family are Christians who love God and want to promote religious programming and good family entertainment.”
Candace Cameron Called “Bigot” By Hilarie Burton

Following her statement, Burton publicly called Bure a “Bigot” on Twitter.
The tweet was read, “Obsessed. I don’t remember Jesus liking hypocrites like Candy. But sure. Get your money, baby. You ride that wave of prejudice all the way to the bank.”
Over the weekend, a gunman in Colorado went on a rampage at an LGBTQ+ club called Club Q. Five people were killed and more than 20 others were injured.
Burton doubled down on Bure’s “bigot”.
He retweeted a Washington Post article about the shooting and replied, “THIS! This is why we need to speak out against bigotry of any kind – even the “I’m-not-the-cute-girl-next-door” crap I mentioned last week. @GAFamily bigotry is the most dangerous kind. It normalizes exclusion under the guise of “protecting traditional values.”

THIS! This is why we need to speak out against bigotry of any kind – even the “I’m-not-the-cute-girl-next-door” crap I mentioned last week. Obsession with @GAfamilyTV is the most dangerous type. It normalizes exclusion under the guise of “protecting traditional values”. https://t.co/x55xX92LbJ

She continued, “This is the excuse of white German women in the 1930s. This is a dog whistle to protect white supremacy. So when Candy and Bill Abbott and GAF want to “protect traditional values” from LGBTQ influence? This is what happened. Don’t look further than the comments their fans left on my social media accounts. I’ve never talked about Christianity. Newsflash: I’m a Christian for life. But the number of people who feel brave enough to put their bigotry in writing – to live forever on the internet – is all the proof you need.”
Burton concluded, “To the people of Colorado Springs, I’m sad and sending you lots of love and support. To my LGBTQ friends? I love you. You are perfect and made in God’s image and you deserve to be included. To bigots? “Traditional values” you killed at least five people last night.”

A lot of people on Twitter don’t take this into account.
“You’re so jealous of Candace Cameron! So you have to attack him,” answered one.
Another replied, “Seriously? Get a life, look in the mirror, do more than read your “good books” & truly live your true Christian values. Oh, & maybe read a dictionary. Bcuz so far “Christians” like you are the problem. Christians are not persecuted. People like you perpetrate persecution.”
“@candacecbure I’ll literally be on the phone with my legal team,” someone else wrote.”
Burton is not alone in his dislike of Bure. JoJo Siwa also spoke out about the “shi**y” comments the actress made about the LGBTQ+ community.
