A home renovation project in a Dallas neighborhood reveals more than anyone bargained for after an unexpected item is found inside a wall – a military-style grenade.
According to the White Settlement Police Department, officers responded to a call shortly after 4 p.m. on New Year’s Eve at a home under renovation after the new owner found what appeared to be a military-style grenade.
Out of an abundance of caution, officials said nearby residents adjacent to the property have been evacuated.
The Fort Worth Fire Department’s Arson and Bomb investigation team arrived at the home shortly after and found the device safe.
It was determined by their team that the grenade did not contain any explosives, police said.
The device was retrieved by Fort Worth Fire and all neighbors were allowed back into the area.
